Defining Gravity
This amazing portfolio of lithographic prints was a collaboration with my printmaking mentor Tom Goglio of Taglio Litho Press. We worked together to create the book over 5 years. Each portfolio contains 10 stone lithographic prints- 5 black and white 22x15" prints on Rives BFK paper, 1 color 22x15" print and 4 black and white 30x22" prints.
Each print was first hand drawn on a stone by me, and then we took turns processing the prints, and Tom was the master printer and I was his press assistant- creating an edition of 24 prints each.
The portfolio case was created by Tom using fine quality silk fabric, leather hide for the spine, and vellum for the title image. Each print comes faced with glassine paper to keep the integrity of the hand pulled print, and the entire suite contains a cover page, artist's statement and Collophon.
This heirloom piece was inspired by the birth of my twin boys. The theme is balance- how we spend our lives balancing one thing or another, trying to define (and in some cases defy) gravity. It is a collector's item, and I can't wait to share it with you!
